Kristen and Peter’s bright and whimsical style was at the forefront of their Lodge at Malibou Lake wedding! These two have adventurous souls that don’t shy away from having a good time. Their Colorful Cali Jewish Wedding day was recently featured on Glamour and Grace, for the perfect fall pick me up!
For Kristen and Peter, it was important for their wedding day to feel like their guests were experiencing the best parts of their relationship adventures, in one spot in one day! It may have started as a challenge. But together we were able to bring together their personal couple style in perfect ways that had their guests exclaiming “this wedding is so Kristen and Peter!”.
The couple shared, “I think our biggest source of inspiration was our relationship. It was really important to us to have personal touches at the wedding. We chose the Lodge at Malibou Lake because it was the perfect blend of So Cal – where we met and spent so much of our relationship– and the mountains that we’ve come to love living in Colorado. We love to cook and try new restaurants so having good food was very important to us. We knew we made a great decision when every prospective vendor we talked to told us how excited they were to work at the Lodge at Malibou Lake because Chef Cordelia has the best food. We really drew from our favorite things to inspire our wedding.“
Choosing the perfect wedding day vendors is crucial for a successful and positively memorable celebration. This always starts with the venue! It’s a pivotal element for a wedding day and creates the bedrock of the foundation for wedding decisions as a couple plans. The couple knew they wanted a beautiful dual outdoor/indoor space that offered functionality and a stunning escape for their guests. Enter The Lodge at Malibou Lake.
The stunning front lawn surrounded by sycamore and oak trees with a private lake in the distance became the idyllic location for the couple to say “I do” with their loved ones surrounding them. The sun made sure to peek over the mountains during the wedding ceremony. Perfectly highlighting the beautiful, colorful florals adorning their modern gold chuppah.
Along the winding pathway around the lawn and on the covered front porch you could find the couple’s guests as they took in cocktail hour. Drinks in hand they enjoyed some cozy tunes from a live music duo. And signed giant Jenga blocks for the couple’s next time hosting game night.
Inside the main ballroom, the modern rustic charm continued at this Lodge at Malibou Lake wedding. From wood dining tables, cross-back chairs, and elegant chandeliers, to the beautiful bay windows highlighting the couple’s sweetheart table. The space really doesn’t need much decor to be transformed for a wedding day!
One of the most unique things that Kristen and Peter incorporated into their wedding day, was something I had never seen done before. The couple wrote their wedding vows together! Traditionally, a couple will write their vows separately as a sweet surprise for the other to hear for the first time during the wedding ceremony. Kristen & Peter felt such a strong pull towards starting their relationship off completely in sync writing these special words with one another.
They shared, “We have always approached our relationship as a team and a true partnership and so we decided to write our vows together. It was really important to us to have conversations about what marriage meant to us and what the next phase of our lives would look like. We wanted to commit to that vision together.“

Kristen and Peter wanted to highlight the special chapters of their relationship at their Lodge at Malibou Lake wedding. As a nod back to their days at UCLA, they brought in local Westwood favorite Diddy Riese ice cream sandwiches for dessert. To tie in their love of music and concert-going, they chose songs that brought back strong memories for them like “Beautiful Day” by U2 and “Do You Remember” by Jack Johnson. These details set their day apart for their guests, who got a sweet look into the couple’s personal story.
Kristen and Peter knew they wanted to be able to relax on their wedding day. They needed someone else who could juggle the logistics and answer any questions that came up, so they hired me! Hey – I’m Sarah, a wedding planner, designer, and coordinator in Southern California that loves small and intimate weddings.
If you’ve been considering hiring a wedding coordinator, here’s what the couple shared about their experience.
Sarah and her team were so incredibly organized and kept us on track. It helped so much to have someone who knows this industry so well as a collaborator. She helped me navigate a tricky situation with a potential vendor and really was a huge support for us. When Sarah came fully on board for the last two months before the wedding, I was blown away by the amount of work she did and the extreme level of detail she had to work with us and our vendors to make sure all contracts were followed, insurance was collected, timelines communicated and so much more. She took away so much stress from us and helped make this a fun time of our lives! My husband and I were able to enjoy our day and not worry about any logistics… booking with her was the best money we spent on our wedding.
