Jessie and Adrian’s Wayfarers Chapel wedding absolutely married a chic California style with their homespun roots. From a wedding ceremony with treetops dazzling overhead to a cliffside cocktail hour complete with blankets and booze, Jessie and Adrian introduced their destination wedding guests to the beautiful California coast. And it left them speechless.
The couple had their hearts set on a Wayfarers Chapel wedding in Rancho Palos Verdes. “We knew for years that we wanted to get married there, but it only held about 100 people. We invited about 120, knowing that a handful wouldn’t be able to attend, and ended up with about 90, which was actually more than we expected since it was a destination for all but 5 guests!” While they may not have set out to have a small wedding, the dream setting for their nuptials happened to be an intimate venue. So Jessie and Adrian made the choice to make their shared dream a reality.
When choosing to do an intimate wedding, “I think the biggest misconception people face, is that their friends or family think they aren’t important enough to them to be invited when that couldn’t be further from the truth. For some people, weddings are not about inviting every person they love.” Jessie’s sentiment here is shared by so many couples who have chosen to celebrate with a smaller group.
When you hear the words “intimate wedding,” do you think of a boring party with no music? Well, think again. Each individualized intimate wedding has something for EVERYONE! Because those in attendance are known so well by the couple, these weddings reflect the group’s interests more so than your typical wedding. Couples can really customize an experience that plays to their personalities and those of their guests.
And if you are the type of couple who prefer a party scene, you can absolutely still have that with a small, intimate wedding. The energy surrounding Jessie and Adrian at their wedding and cheering them on into the night was unreal. It didn’t matter what the headcount was. These guests were all in, drinks in hand, ready to break it down! And I’ve never seen so many people jazzed about late-night pretzel snacks. Jessie and Adrian totally knew how to show their guests how loved they are!
The world around us is full of intricate and subtle design that help shape us into who become. Design can do the exact same thing at a wedding, serve as a pool of reflection of the couple professing their love to the world. Wedding design for me is a world of exploration, where every idea is connected and leads to the final iteration. It takes just one simple idea to bring it to life – take for instance Jessie and Adrian’s spring wedding!
It started with something beloved – Jessie’s amazing talent for painting watercolor jewelry. Nothing really quite says wedding like a glittering gem! By mixing sparkling elements – like sequined linens and twinkling lights – with gold geometric shapes that doubled as floral displays and shining chandelier style cake stands, the initial concept was completely elevated creating a modern yet timeless style. Guests were constantly singing praise over the design “oh this is absolutely Jessie and Adrian’s wedding”!
Crafting the perfect design for your wedding can really truly bring your personalities and love to life in new ways! Need some help? That’s why I offer a wedding design package that brings the best parts of you to life for your guest experience.
Jessie and Adrian’s wedding day as Wayfarers Chapel will always hold a very special place in my heart. Their immeasurable love and devotion to one another filled the entire room that day! These two spent time learning how to laugh together, and also how to face hardships by taking on each other’s grief. When you hold someone’s hand, you also hold their heart.
The bride shared “One really memorable personalization of our day was the daddy-daughter dance. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer the day of Adrian and I’s first date in May of 2013. Though we were supposed to have a few years left, he passed away a month and a half later, and in a way it always felt like it was all timed in a divine way–where Adrian stepped in right as my dad stepped out.
I had my dad’s best friend walk me down the aisle, but nobody was the right fit for the daddy-daughter dance except my husband. We did our first dance as husband and wife and were then introduced to do my daddy-daughter dance together, in his honor, to one of my dad and I’s favorite Beatles songs. It was so emotional for everyone because my dad was my best friend and every guest knew that, but it made our wedding day extra special.”
A wedding is a special bonding moment in a community. Like a pebble being dropped in the water, your love ripples out and affects everyone around you. Reminding those of us that are married about the joys of love and it inspires and gives hope to those still searching!
Jessie and Adrian have that kind of love that makes you want to jump in the air happy! Hearing more of their beautiful love story from their friends & family at their Wayfarers Chapel wedding totally stopped me in my tracks. It’s full of big adventurous moves across state lines, total loss and the strength to pull through, and absolute solid faith in love! There’s nothing better than a strong foundation to set your marriage upon, and they’ve got that in spades!
